From Here has been up and running this week, last day tomorrow. Unfortunately
we've been unable to screen 'One All' and 'Heart' this week but we are thinking
about some future screening(s) for these films along with the other four
that have been showing in Longton, Hanley, Burslem and Tunstall since Tuesday.
More news here and at the Views
From Here website in the coming weeks. |

| Tom and I filmed at Stoke
City FC yesterday. Unlike last week it was overcast and windy, but cold
again. Very different atmosphere in the ground too, not surprising seeing
as Port Vale are struggling at the bottom of League One and Stoke City are
top of the Championship. Last week it was a crowd of around 4,500, this
week 23,500, so more colour, and much, much more noise. No match report
this week as more going on off the pitch to catch on video. Stoke beat Ipswich
Town 1-0 but I missed the goal, saw it on TV this morning, was a belter! |
| With what we've got on
tape from the two games we should be able to edit together an interesting
split screen film. Tom and I just need to crack on with the editing and
sort out a venue somewhere in Stoke to screen it. I've done a couple of
very quick, rough edits from the footage I took at each game: Stoke
City FC / Port Vale FC |

| Filmed fans at Port Vale
FC yesterday with Dave Bethell from AirSpace Gallery. Beautiful sunny day,
very cold, and PV got beaten 2-0 by Swansea City (PV started strong, played
well in the first half, missed some chances, Swansea looked stronger in
the second half after getting a suspect penalty decision, and should've
had a player sent off a little later from where I was sitting! And the second
Swansea goal was bundled in after coming back off the post. PV deserved
a point from the game at least. There endeth the match report) Got a couple
of hours of footage that I'll start to edit soon. Filming at Stoke City
FC next weekend with Tom. Things to remember next time; gloves, warmer coat,
two pairs of socks, flask of tea, something to sit on. |

| Back in Stoke-On-Trent
again for the last week. We shot another two sets of video - timelapse in
a disused pottery in Hanley, and stereoscopic video in Moddershall Oak Wood
and at Trentham Lake - at the weekend plus I stayed during the week to arrange
some venues for the screenings in March. There's two more videos to shoot
and venues to find, which hopefully will be done in the next two to three
weeks. |
| The project now has a
name: Views From Here, we will
be launching a new website for it on Friday 1st February. There will be
detailed information about the project including venues, dates, times, etc
plus a launch event at a very special venue. |

| Brian, Tom and I were
back in Stoke on Sunday, checking out a disused pottery in Hanley and shooting
some stereoscopic footage of wrestling training in Fenton. Click here
to see some video of the pottery and the wrestling shoot. Liz and Mishka
came along to take some portraits of the wrestlers and interview them, go
to their blog to
see and read the outcomes. |
| The plan was to also
shoot stereoscopic landscape videos in and around Stoke today but it was
too cloudy and wet so we'll do it next time we'r up there. |
| Plans for the dates,
times and venues for the screenings are coming together so I'll post more
details in the coming weeks. |

| Last time Brian and I
were in Stoke in December I shot some super 8 footage around Hanley. It
came back from processing today, if you click on the image of the projector

| Liz
and Mishka came out to see us on Tuesday whilst we were pushing PramCam
around Stoke-On-Trent. They've posted some words and pictures of the Hanley,
Burslem and Middleport leg of the journey on their PS&I
blog - including evidence of someone other than Brian actually pushing
PramCam. The blog is a fascinating insight into the regeneration process
happening in Stoke-On-Trent from all involved in the PS&I project; residents,
artists, PS&I team, Renew, etc. Definitely worth checking out on regularly,
along with the PS&I website
which has news about what is going on. |

| Just back from Stoke
and our PramCam excursion which was a great success. 15-18 miles of walking
and 6 hours of footage. Started in Meir at around 6.45am and through Longton
(15 minute stop under a railway bridge because of rain deciding whether
to abort or not), Fenton, Stoke, Penkhull, Cliff Vale, Hanley, Burslem,
Middleport and finished up in Tunstall at 3pm. Watch
some video of the filming. It may look as though Brian did all the pushing
but Tom was photographing (and also pushed PramCam up the steepest hill
we managed to find) and I was chief navigator (and sent us the wrong way
once). |

| Brian, Tom and I have
been constructing PramCam for the first video shoot in Stoke-on-Trent for
the PS&I project. Still
some work to do getting the cameras hooked up to a couple of car batteries,
and tests runs to do around Hove. More photos and some video will be posted
once we done this |
| We'll be in Stoke on
20th November walking through all 6 towns - Longton, Fenton, Stoke, Hanley,
Burslem and Tunstall - with PramCam, from dawn til dusk,
shooting a 3 screen panoramic time-lapse film. So if you are in Stoke and
see three men and a pram come and say hello |
